Sometimes the fracture isn't seen on xray. Blood in the joint (fad pad out of place) indicates a likely fracture.
Sore, Stiff Elbow After a Fall
You may have a fracture of the radial head if:
- At first you could move it and it seemed OK
- But then it got stiff and sore
Treatment:
- Most fractures of the radial head cause few, if any, long term problems
- The key is not to let the elbow get stiff.
- Once we're sure what's going on, the most important thing is to stretch the elbow out and get it moving.
